Meet the staff

Lobsang Jinpa

renaissance man

Jinpa arrived in India from Zorgay in Amdo in 1999, and graduated from TCV Suja in 2005, concentrating on Tibetan and English. Jinpa joined Moonpeak Pictures in April 2005, and became a keen photographer after starting the job, at first using the lab’s veteran Nikon FM10 camera, film, manual focus, manual exposure and all. Jinpa recently bought his own Nikon D3100 digital SLR and is doing landscape photography in his spare time. Since the closure of the photo lab Jinpa works at Moonpeak Espresso.

Surinder Deol

the insider

Surinder has been with Moonpeak since 2006. As senior manager he knows the businesses inside out – at different times he has worked for the café, the lab and Moonpeak Thali. Although you’ll usually find him in charge of customer service at Moonpeak Thali, he uses his local knowledge to co-ordinate work for all three businesses. Surinder is from Dari in Lower Dharamshala, and is a keen trekker and photographer.

Yangdon Tsekyi

mistress barista

Yangdon joined Moonpeak Espresso in 2006, and has gained superior skills as a barista.  Yangdon came to India from Amdo in 2001 and studied  Tibetan at the Transit School from 2001 to 2005. She has also studied  English and computers, and is fluent in Chinese. Yangdon likes reading and writing, and maintains a journal.

Moonpeak is an online and print magazine published in McLeodganj, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India. It features articles and interviews about travel, photography and books, with a focus on South Asia and Tibet. The magazine is based at Moonpeak cafe, restaurant and gallery on Temple Road, McLeodganj.
