Travel on Angus

Angus McDonald (1962-2013)

With great sadness we announce the passing away of the co-founder of moonpeak, Angus McDonald. He died of a heart attack while traveling in Burma. Angus had been undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer which was diagnosed in March 2012, days before his fiftieth birthday.

Writer, photographer, traveler, teacher and entrepreneur, Angus filled all these roles with equal enthusiasm. In 1994 he retraced the century-old footsteps of fellow Australian George Morrison through China and Burma with his Nikons and produced a beautiful and witty book The Five Foot Road.

Angus wrote and photographed for the Associated Press from Dharamshala between 1998 and 2002. An indefatigable traveler that he was, it is only fitting that he passed on during one of his travels. We will miss him very much.
